Not all of us are blessed with two trees, ideally spaced, 12-15 feet apart. Show off your ingenious workarounds.

I've tried all sorts of stand, but I guess my simplest and cheapest (but not the lightest) is my Turtledog Stand (named after OldDog and TurtleLady on the US Forums).  It's just a few bits of 2x2" and a couple of gate hinges.

It's set up here with the ridgepole hanging from a tripod at one end other end hung from a tree branch.

Today's stand is one I made last year from Instructions on The Ultimate Hang website.
It's a 3 hammock tensegrity stand,

Useful if you feel the need to hammock in Death Valley!

INSTRUCTIONS

The details can be found here,

Damn, I just wrote a separate thread about hammock stands in the diy section lol.
I really want to make hammock stand but I’m torn which one to do.
Yes the turtle dog stand would be the easiest. But storing it for me would be very difficult.
I do like the tensehydron (if spelt correctly) stand but I’m not sure I trust it lol!!
I’m keen to see what you guys have!!

Yobo stand, from Kickstarter, setup on my allotment. It looks OK but puts so much tension on the anchors that it is prone to catapulting them back at the hammock.

My normal stand at the allotment is a former poly tunnel which is now a netted strawberry cage.

I haven't built mine yet, just waiting for the parts to arrive. I am using the instructions from The Ultimate Hang as it looked the simplest to build - no tools required.

I was going to get them from https://www.themetalstore.co.uk/ but I have a client that works in steel fabrication, have shown him the design and left it with him for now.

Here's my variation of a Tensahedron stand using 4 20mm x 3m steel conduit, some 5mm dyneema cord and elbow greese. Slept out in it last, but decided to do some tweeks today, unfortunately bent one of the tubes and need to straighten it.

I'm not sure I really wanted to add that one up.

Tensa 4 inc shipping $370 which came to £290.

Customs, VAT and ParcelFarce handling fee £80.

Total £370.

If I didn't feel the need for a stand which packs into my maxi scooter's topbox or underseat storage I'm not sure I could have justified it.

Where’s the reveal Gadget lol??
Iv not had the most success with my stands so far. Last night I bent my second turtle dog ridge pole, 25mm conduit with 20mm bolted through the inside of the middle for strength. Still bent it lol.
Today I’m going to go and buy 4m of 3x2 timber to use.
please

Looks like you're the Evel Knievel of hammock stands!!lol!
Thank you for being our crash test dummy.
I think we'll assume mild steel conduit is not the best for a ridgepole, and leave it there.
